Yoga 101 Workshop

If you're new to yoga, want to try it for the first time or have questions you'd like to ask but never got the chance to, this workshop is a great place to start. We'll discuss what yoga is, the common terms you might hear in a class and break down some of the basic vinyasas and static poses. This workshop will help you determine what type of yoga is appropriate for you and if you are currently a yoga practitioner it will help you to fine tune your practice.
Workshop details:
Introductory discussion of what a yoga class might look like and the various types of yoga classes. Definition of yogic terms such as Yoga, Asana, Vinyasa, Prana, Pranayama, Sun Salutation A, Warrior Poses, Shivasana and what Om is and means. We'll also discuss the basic principles of alignment.
We'll then move into a centering and warm up postures to prepare the mind, body and breath. From here we'll start to break down and practice Sun Salutation A, Warrior I and II and Triangle pose. It's here that we can discuss and answer any questions you may have about the series of postures.
Once we've discussed and answered any questions we'll begin a 45 minute yoga class putting all that we've learned into practice.
