Come experience the full Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series. We'll start with Ujjayi breathing and briefly introduce the philososphy of Ashtanga Yoga. We'll complete our class with a nice long shivasana.
What is the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series?
A: The first or primary series, is called Yoga Chikitsa. Yoga Chikitsa, which means yoga therapy, realigns the spine, detoxifies the body, and builds strength, flexibility and stamina. The series of about 75 poses takes an hour and a half to two hours to complete, beginning with sun salutations A & B(surya namaskara A and surya namaskara B) and moving on to standing poses, seated poses, inversions and backbends before relaxation. This can be a challenging practice and moves fairly quickly.
